Nattie & Hazel Nut's Adventures

Wine Country Living

One of the things I did post residency to clear my head, heal my soul, and fill up my cup was spend a week with my pets in wine country. I love Edna Valley, the location, I have yet to visit their vineyard. But I did visit wineries along my travels.

BAILEYANA, TANGENT, TRUE MYTH

I always stop at Baileyana. I’m a fan of the Tangent line, but I can’t say that I’d pass up on any of this winery’s pours. De-lish.

My absolute favorite place

And the VIEW! Man this place is amazing. From sitting on their patios you can see the rolling hills around you, acres of grapes, and just enjoy where you are in the world.

This winery is one of a kind. Much like all of the Edna Valley vineyards. There’s something about this hometown feel, where everyone’s friendly, and people take the time to learn about you. You don’t get that very often anymore these days. They care about their wines, and it shows in the care they take in the day to day activities.

SAARLOOS & SONS

If you’re in the market for strong wines with a great atmosphere and even better cupcakes make this stop along the way for SURE.

Saarloos is located in Los Olivos. A cute touristy town with lots of wine bar store fronts. While the grapes are not grown here, you will see them as you drive in to town. You can venture outside of town a bit to get the vineyard experience. However, this gem is worth the visit. The Baker that partners with Saarloos pairs a cupcake with each wine. You buy a tasting and a flight of cupcakes to make this experience once in a lifetime.

Even the Nut wants a tasting… but don’t be fooled by her face. She doesn’t get these goodies. I shouldn’t be having them either. But this was our last trip to this divine place so I splurged. On the cupcakes and the wines.

This winery has a very unique flavor. From the wine you taste, the cupcakes you savor, the photo booth to mark your time here, or the wine list etched into a plank. There’s no denying that this place is here to stay for years to come.

Just make sure to take someone with you, or take your time. Because wine tasting adds up on the alcohol. Soon you’ll find that you are tipsy, buzzed, or for some even full intoxicated. None of these are save ways to drive. I encourage visitors to have a DD, or consider the wine tour companies to get to and from your destinations safely!

WINE COUNTRY RESORT

My end destination for this trip was Paso Robles, CA. Another great part of wine country… just not really my cup of tea. This part of California makes a lot of Pinot Noir. A good wine, but I don’t really have the taste buds for it.

But where we parked our RV was a pretty snazzy place. We, meaning madre, booked this spot in Paso for me to hide out for the week. Madre & Jen made it out later in the week for our concert at the Mid State Fair! Me and the girls had a great week there. I was still just SO out of it from finishing up my residency that I don’t think I was able to fully enjoy myself that week. I struggled a lot up until this point in my life. I’m still struggling now, but looking back I think it was a week that I needed.  Sunshine included.
