Welcome Back – New England Style
2019 has seen just about it all. This year had me ringing in the New Year in Massachusetts. Putting THOUSANDS of miles on my Jeep as I drove around New England and then across the country… not just once, but twice. (*Heyyyy West Coast! 👋🏻*) I’ve also moved out of my Lake House, lived out of my car with Hazel & FI, been a squatter in the family cabin and both parents houses before moving back to New England. Since coming back I have dealt with a tire that wont hold air, the challenges of moving into a new home, and adapting to my new neighborhood. . .
While my job (the whole reason I’m on the east coast) is WAY better at this location than last year), my neighborhood is less safe than last year. Last year’s neighborhood was like a family. I may not have been on the inside of the family last year. But I never had to worry about my sh*t being stolen, broken, or violations of my personal space. I DID have to worry about people off leashing their dogs, which was frustrating. But I felt safe.
After two weeks in New Haven, I learned the hard way what type of neighborhood I just moved to. My car was broken into, and items stolen. My welcome to New Haven was complete. I even received creepy emails about my missing stuff…. which unfortunately is how I realized that I was actually missing things instead of just misplacing these items. And what was even MORE fun was trying to alert the police of my break-in….. to which I still have not be able to do because my items are “not important” and therefore I can’t just report it. I have to call between specific times. 🙄
I have since installed a security system – because lets face it. I did NOT feel the least bit safe after my car… basically in my backyard was broken into. But I’m not hooked up and ready to prosecute any vandals that try to screw with me again. #ADTsecurityandprotection #trymenowjerks #goodriddancecriminals
My ADT install took roughly 3 hours, was expensive, but I can sleep, and leave home not worrying about my pets, items, or my safety. Wish me luck that I don’t ever have to learn the full extent of this system or the protection they provide in an emergency. 🤞🏼🙏🏼
