Nattie & Hazel Nut's Adventures

Self Care Sundays: Snowward Bound!

Today is my first true snow day of 2019. The roadways are covered in snow… and some frozen rain… maybe even some ice already. Hazel Nut and I are safely tucked away in our home on the pond.

From our view on the couch we look out over the snow covered pond sized lake. I have affectionately dubbed our home the Lake House. (Yes I’ve watched the LakeHouse movie – don’t judge). Currently she’s covered in snow from tippy top to bottom. I am forever grateful to my amazing neighbor for snow blowing my driveway and walkways.

I am in awe of the change in outlook here. Granted I’ve hit the 6mos mark. That mark where I start making relationships with people. My neighbors have been quiet, friendly, but keep to themselves sorts until now. As I am out and about more they seem to be more approachable. It’s a great shift in my outlook for Western Mass.

But back to snow daze. I. LOVE. SNOW.

And this weekend is no different. I love everything about the snow. The quietness that stretches over the land. The clean look of Mother Nature after a storm. It’s like a blanket of happiness covering the every day of the world. It’s like the real life clean slate we all search for at one point in our lives or another.

For my New England neighbors snow is just a hassle. But I haven’t reached that point in our relationship. It’s still amazingly beautiful to me. There is just something about snow covered landscapes that just makes them so breathtakingly beautiful.

Even the Nut enjoyed a romp in the fresh snowfall of last night’s storm. Although she may not have enjoyed it quite as much as I have… she did get in the spirit of the jaunt both last night and this morning.

Walking Hazel Nut in the snow just became my new favorite adventure of the week. Except I think the pretty girl needs some snow shoes like mama. The poor girls toes were icy cold after our walks.
