Self care for the self lost
To say I’m going through something would be an understatement. I’m struggling. Struggling to find. my self worth, self care, and purpose in life. I’ve searched blog post after blog post for the motivation and spark that my life needs to get on the self care bandwagon. I have yet to “find” it in a way that works for me…
So I decided: Let’s CREATE it!
I’m starting this new blog in hopes to reach people. In hopes to make some sort of impact, to find my voice again. But really I’m just hoping to heal and help others heal.
I lost myself a while ago. And although some days I feel the healing process working… other days I’m just as lost as ever, if not more so. If that’s even possible… So here’s hoping we can find ourselves along the journey of a little self discovery.
Step ONE: Give yourself a BREAK.
In today’s world it’s GO, GO, GO! We don’t take the time to 1. BREATHE, 2. Smell the roses, 3. Take a minute to reflect or even take the time to enjoy the life we currently are living. We, or at least ME, just rush through life trying to get everything done and move on. But if all we are living for is to keep moving on to the next task, the next job, the next life milestone… Did the life we’re living even need to happen?
I mean I road tripped this summer… and I’m not sure I truly tried to enjoy it well enough. I road tripped across the entire United States. That’s something most people never do in there lifetime and I have done it, in part or whole, multiple times. So this week (Hello Monday) I’m going to reflect on the trips I DID take. The memories I DID make. And remember the joy life already brought me.
Step TWO: Make a list
I’m a list girl. I’m a goal maker, list crosser offer, planner girl. I miss my planners. But I can’t justify the paper ones anymore. So I stick to my iPhone and now my iPad to keep track of my life.
Here’s the start of my list:
- Make self care a priority
- Lose 50lbs
- Meal prep healthy meals
- Set up a nightly routine
- GET HEALTHY – Mind, Body, & Soul
I’m sticking to 5 goals for right now. Some of these are fairly tough/big goals. Like losing weight is a tough goal. But the remainder of my goals all correlate back to that one… or at least should help bring that goal to reality.
Pick the goals that work best with where you are in life right now… and where you want to be.
Step THREE: Take Action
After you give yourself some slack…. and then create your list… GET TO WORK!
You’ve had time to take a beat, minute, or moment. Now it’s time to take that list you just created and formulate a plan of action to make that list a reality.
Did you list make a nightly routine? Because several self care bloggers have been all about the nightly routine. If so put together a schedule of what you need or want to do at night, then work through different ways to get that routine to form a habit. For some the first way doesn’t “stick” – that’d be meeeee. So I just need to sort out a way to make night time routines a priority… because they currently aren’t.
Whatever your list. Make it happen. Even if you have to enlist the help of others to get that list done. GET ‘ER DONE!
