Finding the Sunlight
Today’s adventures of Nattie & Hazel Nut included your run of the mill Starbucks run…. Except this “RUN” was literally… A RUN.
I mapped out the “walking” distance to my new SBux. Guess what? 6.1miles. A 10K. My friend and virtual running buddy completed a 5k for the most amazing metal I’ve ever seen. To say that I’m jealous would be an understatement. But she earned that metal and the envy as she kicked that 5k’s BUTT.
Having just dropped major coin on my new shoes, and a reflective windbreaker this was the motivation I needed to get my booty moving. I had a slow morning, but decided both Hazel and I needed a treat… but that we needed to earn it. SO off we went in search of our perfect running route to score our puppacinos.
We struggled… meaning me… with mile 2. Like STRUGGLED. I considered stopping at mile 3, but having switched my headphones over I didn’t realize I’d already passed that mile marker. So I figured if I made it halfway… I might as well keep it moving. I for sure slowed down, but I MADE IT the whole distance.
The walk home… was no joke. I was sore, and becoming more and more stiff with every walking mile. It didn’t help that I also missed a turn. Or turned the wrong way, I’m still not sure. It was cute when Hazel would recognize where she was she would be super excited and a pep in her step… one that I couldn’t always match or control. Once we made it to our turn off the mountain road I did my best to jog part of the way home. Nope. If I thought I was stiff BEFORE that last 1/2 mile then I was seriously mistaken. Thankfully the last 1/4 or less was easy peasy. I can see my house from that distance and it was worth it to make a bath and soak.
If only I didn’t have sooo many stairs. I don’t get it New England. What’s with the excessive stairs?!
For now I bathe in the accomplishment of 6mi run, 13mi outing. Closing my rings one at a time. Day after day!
