New England Adventures: The Bostonian
This weekend brought New England adventures of Nattie & Hazel…. Except that the Nut was left at home for part one.
This adventure started off EARLY. Too early I’d say. But I had to drive all the way to Boston to pick up my padre from Logan. So basically we made the best of it. He flew all night, didn’t sleep. Yay for middle seats. I tossed and turned fretting over my patient and just life… We were both in rough shape come Saturday morning. But we made it. To Boston that is. Once there I got a little mixed up on the roadways…. Dude Boston… way to make it SUPER complicated when ROADS SHOULDN’T BE!
Finally got us parked. And we set out on our adventure. First I showed him Boston’s public garden. Pretty. They were setting up for spring. LOVE that. It hasn’t officially become winter yet, but the promise of spring is officially in the air there. Amazing.
Next we wandered the streets of Boston to reach the South End Buttery. This cute brunch spot. While the brunch was ok… I’m learning that Sangria is… NOT a New England thing. Throwing wine, liquor, and sliced fruit does NOT make it sangria. HELLO. Sangria is fruit soaked in wine, refrigerated, and prepared before I order it… NOT afterwards. Minus 1 NE. SMH.
During brunch we learned all about the Bostonian way of dog training. Something I found FASCINATING was that all these dogs were tied up outside the cafes waiting patiently for their owners. A-MAZE-BALLS. My favorite was this beautiful yellow lab that quietly acknowledge the handsome black lab carrying his ball while his owner quietly walked on. Um 2 amazing, fit, and friendly labs in one outing? I’m in love. Great job Boston, MA dog trainer(s). Way to create 1. a great environment for dogs cohabitating, and 2. job security.
Next up we hit rainstorm 5billion (since i moved here), and took cover inside a dog bakery. I promised Hazel Nut a treat for being left behind today. So I bought her a goodie bag from the store. A cute little “waffle” and a few turkey treats. Super cute. Loved it.
As the rain continued we dredged our way back to the Boston Common to see the State building, and opted to forego wandering along the Freedom Trail this visit. The rain was fierce, although somewhat short lived, and the cold was… well cold. My dad having just flown the redeye was ready for a nap. So our Boston journey was cut short. Back to the car we went. But not without some fun although the way. Boston we’ll try again some other time. But please…. stop raining out my plans? It’s a long drive for nothing. Just saying.
