NJ’s Fitness: Women’s area – YES PLEASE!
First off… I applaud y’all for making it to the gym. Whether it’s once a blue moon, or on the regular. Good. For. You.
Routines are hard. Gym motivation is hard. Home work outs, runs, yoga, whatever works for you is what works best. Get it gurl! (And guys!)
But something that helps with my gym motivation? WOMEN’S AREAS in the gyms I join. For me that’s a new concept. And an amazing one at that.
As a woman that would never be mistaken for a gym rat, I find the main floor… well intimidating. Not knowing how each machine is used, how to adjust the machines for my short stature is… well intimidating.
I don’t have that perfect technique. I don’t go all out with weights. I hate the sweating and grunting that goes on the main floor. But more than anything I dislike the way I feel when I’m out on the main floor. I feel like I don’t belong. Like I’m in peoples way that ARE gym rats.
But here. In the women’s area. I have more motivation to get it done. To try the different workouts I would otherwise not. I am more willing to figure out how to set a machine to my height and weight class. I feel less judged and way less intimidated.
And as I build my confidence in the gym itself up… I’ll slowly start sneaking out to the main floor for other equipment that isn’t available in the women’s area.
But for now. I’m enjoying my peaceful time in the quieter women’s area.
Happy work out 🙂
