Lovin’ Livin’ Life
These days we all need to find things to feel grateful for. Some days are harder to find that silver lining than others. But we all need to use those silver linings to get us through each day and live in the moment. Times are tough, but we are tougher.
Some days you may not feel very tough, but as the cliché says:
“You have survived 100% of your worst days.”
So lets work on Lovin’ Livin’ Life – together. Sometimes I need the reminder that I too have survived 100% of my worst days. Those days I didn’t want to get out of bed. I made it through. Those days where literally everything I touched felt like it was breaking down, falling apart, or that I literally could not get anything right – yup, you betcha. I survived those too!
A dear friend of mine used to love sunflowers. Even on the worst days she would still find grace and beauty in a sunflower and in life. And while we were not close towards the end of her life, her memory, and her love of sunflowers shines on. When I see a sunflower, I think of how she fought to live, to love, and to just be alive. She lived life to the fullest despite the monumental ongoing tragedies she had to endure during her short lifetime.
I saw these sunflowers in the grocery store and thought I’d spruce up my table with them. A little self care, and a little reminder that life is precious. Even if right now it seems bleak. Life is still precious. Life is still important. And life is still worth living.
It may take time to get a new routine, or to make it feel “normal” again. But bit by bit we slowly make progress. Heck I’ve just started to have access to my gym again – with a face mask. And while I wiped down equipment before and after my use, and I only stay so long as I feel safe (if I’m feeling crowded then I cut my workout time and head home).
Again – WE CAN GET THROUGH THIS.
We were all moving a the speed of light before this year. Maybe this is the universe’s (or God’s depending on your beliefs) way of saying HEY! slow down and get over yourself. Here’s a mandatory RESET button.
Here’s to learning to enjoy that first sip of coffee. That last sip of wine. The flavors in your favorite dish. And the sweet moments with your loves. My animals may be just as stir crazy as the rest of the country, but we manage the best way we can. Together.
So let’s look for the good in each day. The happy in each moment of sadness. And the silver lining in every rain cloud. 2020 may be one tough hurricane of a year, but just as we have survived every year that has come before it, we will survive this year. We just get to shake off the rain droplets and rinse ourselves clean from the dirt, deceit, anger, and hate.
After all, we’re in this thing together. And we will get through this together.
